Who We are

Welcome to the ‘Homeless Mind Project,’ an online space dedicated to exploring cognitive immobility — a sense of cognitive entrapment in life experiences or locations in one’s past.

Here, you will discover a range of accessible resources, from peer-reviewed articles, thought-provoking op-eds to insightful blogs and personal stories offering diverse perspectives on cognitive immobility.

Why Cognitive Immobility?

Many of us have experienced the psychological impact of leaving a place or going through a major life change — be it moving to a new location, ending a relationship, bereavement or losing a sense of security.

Our Goals are to:

  • Raise awareness of how cognitive immobility affects people’s mental health and identity.
  • Foster research on the impact of cognitive immobility on people’s well-being, integration, aspirations, relationships, family dynamics, and belonging.
  • Provide accessible resources—research, stories, and discussions—to enhance the understanding of cognitive immobility.
  • Support research on cognitive immobility by providing resources and networks for researchers.
  • Overall, we are seeking to promote effective solutions that address the challenges associated with cognitive immobility.
